COLLECTIONS

Sarah Clausen Art is a gallery of uplifting statements. The intermittent rose is a combo of petals in frames that naturally command attention. Admirers find themselves drawn into the art playing a word game discovering how to sort out the lines and shapes. The mixed media collections support moments of joy with the beauty of nature, in a place where original art perseveres.

READ THE LINES

The collection READ THE LINES is the first creation to all my collections. This is a mixed media collection of oils, acrylics, and dried rose petals. FAITH, HOPE, & LOVE look lovely displayed together as a set of three. This speaks directly from my heart on my journey to finding my voice to bring my designs to life in paintings.

TRIPPIN’ THRU ITALY

The collection TRIPPIN’ THRU ITALY was designed from my photography while visiting Italy during my honeymoon. I painted each of the cities to reflect the colors and symbols on each of their flags. This is a mixed media collection of oils and dried rose petals. The collection is beautiful when displayed together in a set of five paintings. Enjoy the emotional trip thru Italy, while seeing all the wonderful sites the way I did.

YEAR OF THE

The collection YEAR OF THE encompasses many cultures new year themes. These are a mixed media collection of oils, spray paints, inks, acrylics, rose petals, gold leaf foil and metallic gold house paint. 2024 was described as year of the dragon, slowing down, power, good fortune, and the Pantone color Peach Fuzz. 2025 was described as year of the snake, jubilees, new beginnings, and the Pantone color Mocha Mousse. 2026 is described as the year of the horse, growth, steady progress, balance, and the Pantone color Cloud Dancer.

ALL FOUR SPELLS

The collection ALL FOUR SPELLS represents the four seasons. SPELLS, a synonym for seasons, appropriately describes my designs that spell out the four seasons. SPICE is the first painting in this collection created with dried rose petals to make the pumpkins. Painting them in metallics adds complexity to the Fall word play. This is a mixed media collection of oils, metallics and dried rose petals. PUMPKIN SPICE & SARAH CLAUSEN ART ARE NICE. FLAKE is the second painting in this collection created with dried rose petal greens to make the snowflake. This is a mixed media collection of oils and dried rose petal greens. WINTER BLUES take the CAKE with a SARAH CLAUSEN ART SNOWFLAKE.

WITH LOVE, SARAH

The collection WITH LOVE, SARAH transpired when I was diagnosed with skin cancer on my nose. I underwent reconstructive surgery disfiguring my nose from its prior state with a deep scar. I’ve come to terms that our scars are statements on our bodies describing our lives. Brave is a mixed media collection of oils in three statement colors with dried rose petals. Donating an original WITH LOVE, SARAH painting to anyone undergoing an illness, disease, survived an accident, or to someone who lost a loved one each quarter fills my heart with such warmth and joy. Please volunteer someone you know in need of some happiness for me to paint. Their favorite candid photo of the subject is all that’s needed.

Kevin Reed-Heart

I would like to salute Kevin. He is noted for being courageous, independent, and passionate by everyone who knows him. I met Kevin about eight years ago while living in the same apartment building. We quickly became best friends, and I consider him family now.

February 2024 came and it was Valentine’s weekend, which happened to be the same weekend as my wedding reception. Kevin let me know he wouldn’t be joining us because he would be flying to Mayo Clinic for emergency open heart surgery within the next couple days. Leave it to Kevin to be the center of attention, as usual. Prior to this, within five months of 2014 (May to September), Kevin survived two open heart surgeries and a stroke with partial paralysis and other deficits/challenges to work through. Kevin worked out everyday, loving his Peloton, and living life to the fullest. Kevin is one of the bravest and strongest humans I know.

Deeply saddened, worried, and missing Kevin in his absence from our reception we left the next morning for Mayo Clinic. We wanted to let Kevin know how much he meant to us and how much we loved and supported him before he went into surgery. 10 years prior Kevin initially had an aortic aneurysm repaired. Five months later the valve could not be saved and he received the St. Jude’s aortic valve. After that for the next 10 years Kevin’s heart was monitored with no changes, until that February 2024. The doctors noticed the tear had increased in size, which initially wasn’t repaired correctly, so they sent him off to Mayo.

Kevin’s grandmother, grandfather, uncle, aunt, and mother all passed away from heart complications. Kevin is blessed to have a wonderful system of caring aunts, who are his mother’s sisters that raised him. They continue to bless him with immense and abundant love and support. Kevin continues to live life to the best of his abilities. His new love is dog sitting for anyone who needs help. He has grown that into a wonderful career on the side, while still being in the IT field full time.

Deep and dark thoughts and feelings can take over someone’s days going through any kind of disease, illness, accident, or challenges that life can test us with as humans. Sometimes strength and resilience seem impossible to find within ourselves. My mission is to paint a “With Love, Sarah” painting, and donate it to bring a moment of happiness and a smile to that person’s face or their family and friends. Filling peoples hearts with warmth and joy, if for only a moment should be a priority for all of us. Finding the subjects most candid, beautiful moment in their life, and bringing that moment back in a painting, will lift their spirits. Let’s encourage one another, and be each other’s biggest fans.
